Born in South Africa and raised in southeast Queensland, Drew honed his craft for curating original and enriching experiences after moving to Cape Town following his university years, where he founded Kiff Kombi Tours in 2016. Taking visitors on an alternative exploration of the city’s top attractions and secret gems, Kiff Kombi Tours is still in operation and has been nominated for two prestigious awards: World’s Best Sustainable Tour Operator at the Global Youth Travel Awards in Edinburgh in 2018, and Cape Town’s Best Sightseeing Tour at the 2019 Cape Town Experiences Awards. Leading travel agency, TravelStart, has also rated Kiff Kombi Tours among the Best Tour Companies in South Africa.
Drew realised that the Kiff Kombi Tours concept was ideally suited to his old stomping ground, which is now known as one of regional Australia’s hottest food and drink destinations.
Having spent a majority of his 20’s overseas and working in hotels, bars and as a professional photographer and videographer for the past 10 years, Alex brings a unique palate of skills to Kiff & Culture. While looking after the marketing and content side of things, Alex is also the co-founder and lead guide for the business that launched in mid-2021.
After living and working all over the world between them, the boys are stoked to be able to share their corner of Australia with you now. Offering unique experiences with some of Australia’s best farm-to-plate restaurants, wineries, distilleries and craft breweries, Kiff & Culture has placed themselves as one of the most premium food & drink experiences offerings in South East QLD and Northern NSW.
Having partnered with the luxury environmentally focused hotel chain, Crystalbrook Collection, they recently launched their much coveted multi-day Brisbane to Byron Food Trail. Kirby Short is queen of the ‘balancing act’. From a long and distinguished career with the Queensland Fire and Brisbane Heat (captaining the latter to back-to-back WBBL championships) to simultaneously pursuing a career in the education profession as Deputy Principal of MacGregor State High School – Short is a born leader.
Having played 72 one-day games for Queensland and 67 WBBL games for the Heat, Short retired at the end of the 2020 season leaving an indelible mark on the women in sport landscape. Known for her poise on and off the field, it was unsurprising to see her make the seamless transition to the media – with roles as a commentator on radio for the ABC and television on Seven Sport and Fox Cricket.
With her innate ability to articulate and lead in a variety of contexts, Kirby is a wonderful addition to our 2022 Sport & Fitness Virtual Workshop presenter line-up.

Joey has been in the fitness industry for the past 5 years after previously playing rugby league at the elite level. He was a part of an academy program where he studied Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness along with a Business Diploma.
This led him to the fitness industry and group training in particular as it reminded me of the team environment in sport. For the past three years he has been the Head Coach and Studio Manager of Body Fit Training South Brisbane which involves coaching, marketing, sales, cleaning and everything in between. Being forced to adapt on the fly to the COVID-19 pandemic and more recently the SEQ floods has been challenging, but it has allowed the community of BFT South Brisbane to shine through.
BFT’s scientific programming is second to none, using heart rate tracking technology and focusing on progressions as we move through 4-6 week training blocks. There’s a reason behind every movement we do in the studio and it caters for any fitness level.
